Skin to Skin aka Kangaroo Care

Skin-to-skin contact, also known as kangaroo care, 🦘is highly beneficial for both babies and their parents. The benefits highlight its importance in promoting a healthy and nurturing environment for newborns.

Benefits are stabilising the baby’s heart rate, promoting temperature stability, reducing cortisol levels (stress hormone), increases oxytocin in the parent, regulating breathing patterns, decreasing crying episodes, supporting steady weight gain, and potentially leading to longer periods of sleep for the baby. This practice fosters a strong bond between the parent and the newborn, enhances breastfeeding success, and contributes to the well-being and development of the infant.

*Add a warm blanket over you and have baby high on your chest so you can kiss their head, of course add a diaper on too otherwise it gets messy! We don’t suggest to do this for night time and rather contact daytime naps and hang outs in bed or couch. Happy cuddling
