What do you need Postpartum

〰️Support and Wise women companionship

In many different traditions around the world, postpartum is a precious and sacred time when the mother is a priority above all. The family around her supports her, but what if we don’t have that? It takes a village to raise a baby, and if we don’t have this, we need to pay for our village or ask for help & support around us. Parenthood is never what you expect it to be. Who will look after you? A postpartum doula, Mütterpflegerin, and Wochenbett midwife are the perfect combo for in-home support.

If you nourish yourself, you will nourish your baby. Eating nutritious foods is an essential part of postpartum and healing recovery.

Eat fiber, protein, and iron-rich foods and if you are breastfeeding, aim to have an additional 500 calories per day to make sure you are getting enough nutrition for both you and your baby. Don’t forget to hydrate with room-temperature smoothies, warm tea, and water!

5 days in bed, 5 days on the bed, and 5 days near the bed. This ensures that you get a solid two weeks of intentional rest.

Find something that you do for yourself without baby, taking a shower is basic hygiene, not self-care. Slow down and take your time. You will never get this time back again

Fresh air and sunshine will help regulate your nervous system. Walking and grounding yourself to the earth will make you feel connected. In winter, on your balcony or near the window, open the curtains for your daily sunshine. House plants and fresh flowers help too or look into a UV lamp.

〰️Loving Touch

Belly binding and wrapping support your stomach muscles, lower back and hips. Massage can help with circulation and blood flow, and womb massage with oil helps the uterus to minimize. Warm hugs and figuring out your love language between you and your partner. Lots of skin-to-skin time with your baby 🌷
